Sunset Ridge Barracudas Swim Team

The Sunset Ridge Barracudas are a FAMILY RUN swim team and one of the largest teams in the TSA (Tarheel Swimming Association) league. We have approximately 300 swimmers and for this reason, we need a lot of help during the season and at our home and away meets. We do not require swimmers to attend meets but as a swim team member, our hope is that you will swim in all the meets during the season. For this reason, we require all families to work  jobs at multiple meets during the season or 1 larger job for the entire season, regardless if your child swims in any meets. As part of the TSA league, we will participate in 3 HOME and 3 AWAY swim meets, typically on Tuesday evenings, June & July.

Swimmers will share a summer of exciting competition, increased self-esteem, confidence, and most important of all – FUN and FRIENDSHIPS!

Our team is open to qualified swimmers from 5-18 years of age. For your child's safety, each child must be able to swim a minimum of 15 yards unassisted. If you have any questions about your child's readiness, please speak to one of the swim coaches.

Practices run from late May to mid-July. Our flexible practice schedule accommodates both traditional and year-round students.

Whether you have veteran swimmers or will be new to the swim team, there are two items that will be strictly enforced:

1. Swimmers must be at least 5 years old and able to swim 15 yards, unassisted, and with a recognizable stroke. 4 year olds may receive coach assessment and approval to swim on the competitive team.   If the coaches feel your swimmer is not safe in the water at the first practice, you will be asked to please wait until next season and instead enroll in swim lessons. One option for lessons before the season begins are various pre-season (spring) clinics offered in the area.
2. The Barracuda team is Parent-Run. Therefore, every family must fulfill the required number of volunteer “points,” regardless if your child swims in any meets. Do not register your child if you do not plan to assist in the group effort. 

SWIMSUITS

Team suits are not included in the registration fee. Each swimmer must have a team suit for the meets.

Ordering Team Swimsuits You can order suits at the registration kickoff on Sunday, May 3, 2026 - held at our swim team NORTH pool. Our swimsuit vendor will be there with a fit line and suits to purchase. The 2026 suit is the same as the suite used during the summer 2025 season. A team suit is required per Tarheel Swimming Association rules.

Jr. Barracudas do not need a team suit.
